Recently, I have been doing index futures on Futu.
There was a very strange order this morning that led to a loss, because Futu’s copywriting misled me.
It’s actually quite simple:
- I have 1 lot of small HSI long order, and then use the take profit and stop loss function provided by Futu, and set the take profit and stop loss orders respectively, as shown in the figure below.
- I saw that the trend was not right, so I took the initiative to close the position, and it was a short position at this time. But the Take Profit and Stop Loss orders were not cancelled.
- A few minutes later, the market rose rapidly, and I regretted that I should not have closed the position in such a hurry, but when I looked at the account, there was a position slip with a floating loss, which surprised me.
- Quickly check the order record, it turned out that the take profit order was not cancelled, and the position opening operation was performed . This logic is too weird. According to my experience of using other software, if there is no open position when the take profit order is triggered, it should be reminded of failure. Its logic is a generalized conditional list, but it is emphasized as “take profit”.
- Quickly close the position, fortunately, there is not much loss.
- Contact customer service, I insist that this copy is misleading, and the platform is responsible, but the customer service said that there is a description in the help document, blame me for not reading it. I……
In fact, I also thought about it afterwards, if this unexpected order made money, would I be so angry, probably not, I would just have more intentions, and I would not use it like this in the future.
But anyway, this copy is very misleading. Friends who are useful to Futu, pay attention: Futu’s take profit and stop loss will be executed to open a position. If you have a short position, you must manually cancel the take profit and stop loss .
I also make products myself. I remember that I often tell my friends that in terms of career direction, I insist on not making products related to funds, because I know that the responsibilities behind it are heavy, and one accidental loss of assets will have a great impact on users. big. I don’t know if Futu’s trading line products have this kind of awareness.
Now I want to add one more thing. As a user, when using funds-related functions, do not trust the product manager, because its logic may be different from common sense.
