The 2022 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine is awarded to Swedish paleogeneticist Svante Pääbo for his work on human evolution and the study of the extinct human genome.
Swante Pabo founded a whole new scientific discipline – paleogenomics. He extracted, sequenced and sketched the Neanderthal genome from fossils, he analyzed the genetic differences between all modern humans and extinct ancient humans, and his findings provided the basis for exploring why we are uniquely human.
Nutshell will show you more in-depth interpretations of the award later! Stay tuned!
