On November 9, the 2022 World Internet Leading Scientific and Technological Achievements were announced in Wuzhen. A total of 15 technology projects from around the world were selected for this achievement, representing the most cutting-edge technological achievements in the global Internet field. As a self-developed distributed relational database, OceanBase’s transaction processing capability has reached the international leading level.
In 2021, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the “14th Five-Year Plan for In-depth Integration of Informatization and Industrialization Development Plan”, which clearly proposed to accelerate the development and application promotion of products such as distributed databases, hybrid transaction analysis and processing databases, and shared memory database clusters.

At present, OceanBase’s core technical capabilities have been deployed and applied in the key business systems of more than 400 customers such as Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, China Insurance, Shandong Mobile, Sinopec, Jiangxi People’s Society, Ideal Auto, and Kuaishou, serving government affairs, finance, communications, energy, core pillar industries such as the Internet. At the same time, OceanBase insists on open source and open source, and launched OceanBase Community Edition 4.0 this month, which is easier to use and more compatible, which greatly reduces the threshold for enterprises to use databases.
It is reported that OceanBase’s native distributed relational database was developed in 2010, and version 4.0 was officially released in August this year. The new version realizes a single-machine distributed integrated architecture for the first time, which can support only single-machine deployment at the beginning of the business, and has a single-machine to multi-machine level. The ability to expand and contract, thus breaking the boundaries of distributed databases and making distributed databases universal.
It is understood that the application of the world’s leading Internet scientific and technological achievements is open to the world, and continues to focus on the development of global Internet cutting-edge technologies and applications, and has collected nearly 300 outstanding achievements from China, Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Sweden and other countries. This is also the third time that Ant Group’s self-developed technology has won this award after the “financial-level blockchain application platform” and “large-scale graph computing system TuGraph”. In this selection, OceanBase solves the three key issues of database scalability, real-time analysis of enterprise data and low cost of database.
