IT House June 26 news, according to AppleInsider reports, Apple It does not plan to challenge a union vote of its employees at an Appl Store in Maryland, and plans to negotiate “in good faith” with the store’s employees.

In early June, the majority of Apple Store employees in the center of Towson, Maryland, voted to form a union, becoming the first Apple Store in the United States to conduct a union vote.

A source familiar with the company’s plans told Reuters that Apple did not intend to hinder the union vote and would participate in the negotiation process “in good faith”.

IT House understands that the organization of this vote was done by a group of employees who call themselves AppleCORE (an acronym for the Coalition of Organized Retail Employees). Workers have said they want to expand their rights, in particular by demanding a voice over wages, working hours and safety. AppleCORE is associated with a larger, established union, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.

Apple has not previously welcomed the establishment of unions by Apple Store employees, and even hired anti-union lawyers. Organisers in Atlanta had previously withdrawn a petition to hold the vote, claiming Apple’s conduct prevented a fair vote and the company was accused of disrupting unions at two separate locations.
