Hello everyone. Welcome to the first TechoDay, “Tencent Technology Open Day”.
I’m Dowson and I used to be a programmer. It has been 17 years since I joined Tencent, and I first worked as an architect in the Architecture Department. Now, together with Lu Shan, he also presides over the work of Tencent Technology Committee and Tencent Technology Channel.
In the past two decades, many C-side applications have been born, such as the familiar QQ, WeChat, and QQ Music; and Tencent’s founders and executives, such as Pony and Tony, are also programmers, and many people have used them. The products are made by their own hands. In the era of consumer Internet, countless programmer-turned-entrepreneurs, either single-handedly or in small teams, have made many novel applications, changing and enriching our entertainment and life.
Now, we have entered the era of industrial Internet, which is even more magnificent, but the demand scenarios are also more complex. Developers need the KnowHow of the industry and the collaboration between upstream and downstream. A product, from idea to implementation, requires more process tools, collaboration platforms, and technology accumulation.
Therefore, we launched the “Tencent Technology Open Day”, hoping to provide a communication platform that truly understands the needs of programmers. Tencent Cloud has also launched more R&D tools in the past few years, hoping to help developers solve problems encountered by easy-to-use and cutting-edge technologies and tools, and realize their vision of the digital world with a low threshold.
First of all, we hope to lower the development threshold through lightweight tools, so that everyone can become a “digital architect”.
On the one hand, for general requirements, it provides template-level tools to achieve one-click development; on the other hand, it also provides available APIs and low-code tools for customized requirements to lower the development threshold.
In the past, in the construction of web applications, small programs, APPs and other scenarios, it was necessary to create servers, configure networks, install application software, databases, web servers, etc., and then configure various environments, which actually took a lot of time.
For such high-frequency development scenarios, we have launched Lighthouse, a lightweight application server, which packages IaaS resources, application software, and various configurations in a unified manner, enabling out-of-the-box use. Even developers who are just getting started can complete the construction of a website in less than 1 minute.
One of our partners, “Shenzhen Internet Business World”, mainly serves e-commerce overseas business. Based on Lighthouse’s services, it has helped hundreds of sellers successfully build cross-border e-commerce independent stations and APPs in less than 3 months.
The micro-build low-code service we provide can be used to build an enterprise OA portal and approval management system in the way of “building blocks”. At the same time, it is deeply connected with the applet process, which is convenient for building and publishing applet and reaching customers quickly. Through a wealth of development templates, WeiDa reduces the work of duplication and customization, and developers can focus on the business logic itself. At the same time, it has opened up rich SaaS applications such as enterprise WeChat, Tencent documents and Tencent conferences. Developers can complete the integration and development of applications in one-stop, quickly optimize various business processes of enterprises, and improve the efficiency of management and circulation. At present, Weida has served 100,000 developers and built 300,000 applications.
In addition, the WeChat ecosystem represented by mini programs is a technology hotspot that developers pay attention to. Tencent Cloud and WeChat jointly launched cloud development, serving more than 2 million developers, becoming the preferred one-stop serverless development platform for WeChat developers, with a daily call volume of more than 3 billion. With the growth of the platform, many enterprise developers have also put forward more in-depth appeals. For this reason, we atomically output the cloud development gateway and integrate functions such as edge acceleration, security risk control, and traffic management, so that developers can be more portable. access. Help customers such as Bubble Mart increase the stability to 99.9% in the case of weak network, and also resist many types of security risks such as black production swiping, DDoS attacks, and data crawlers.
Second, we hope to improve R&D efficiency by automating the process, so that “architects” can quickly build and deliver applications in the cloud.
Under the traditional development mode, project management, compilation, construction, deployment and other process links are carried out independently, just like “islands”, requiring a lot of manual coordination and configuration in the middle, and it is difficult to meet the business needs of rapid iteration.
The emergence of the cloud provides a standardized infrastructure and a unified architecture for software development, and also unifies the development tool chain and develops engineering, providing a foundation for implementation.
Tencent Cloud’s Coding DevOps platform is also assisting in the automation of R&D and operation and maintenance, helping to shorten the time of product release from “quarter” and “year” to “day” or “week”. On the Coding platform, agile project management, test management, continuous integration, product library, continuous deployment, application life cycle management and other functions are implemented on the same platform, which reduces the construction cost of team R&D tools by 82.7% and improves R&D efficiency by 75%. %, product delivery efficiency increased by 68%.
At the same time, the monitoring capabilities of the Coding DevOps platform and Tencent Cloud are seamlessly integrated, enabling second-level monitoring, accurate alarms, and observability capabilities, helping developers easily deal with various emergencies in the cloud, enhancing business stability and improving Operational efficiency and cost reduction.
Today, we will also release the Orbit cloud-native application deployment platform, which simplifies application deployment and operation and maintenance work, supports the left shift of application operation and maintenance work, and allows developers to observe the running status of applications with low threshold, perform expansion and contraction, monitor log alarms, etc. Various configurations to complete the life cycle management of the entire application.
Finally, we also expect to provide modular products and capabilities, so that cutting-edge technologies such as AI, audio and video, and virtual simulation can be used by every developer.
Digital technology is undergoing tremendous change. Audio and video have become a new generation of human-computer interaction language. The information content we input to the computer has expanded from words and pictures to sounds and actions, which are more and more in line with the habit of the human body’s natural senses, and there are more possibilities for creation. AI has become a ubiquitous data driving force by innovating computing and processing, and will automatically process many repetitive tasks that were highly dependent on manual labor in the past by building models.
However, these technical thresholds are relatively high, and the construction from 0 to 1 takes a lot of time and cost. Now, we have modularized the AI, audio and video capabilities accumulated over the years and put them on Tencent Cloud, allowing developers to call them with one click.
For example, we will support the audio and video capabilities of Tencent conferences and encapsulate them as the Tencent Cloud Vision Cube Audio and Video Terminal SDK, allowing developers to integrate fast and stable video and live broadcast capabilities with one click. Take our partner Xiaoetong as an example. This is a digital tool that integrates brand marketing, knowledge product delivery, and user management. It has millions of customers. With Tencent Cloud Vision Cube, Xiaoetong only needs one With a set of SDK interfaces, you can have the capabilities of full-stack video requirements, and the investment cost is also reduced by 2/3.
In the next agenda, my colleagues will also introduce more products and tools. For example, the machine learning platform “Tencent Cloud TI Platform Public Cloud Edition” allows individual developers to train their own AI models with data.
