Brazil Considering Mandatory Use of USB-C Chargers

Brazil plans to introduce similar regulations after the European Union passed a law requiring the use of USB-C chargers for electronic devices, including smartphones, to reduce e-waste. Brazil’s telecommunications regulator, the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (Anatel), has published a proposal for public comment, with a deadline of August 26. The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, undoubtedly inspired by the EU’s actions, said that mandatory use of USB-C chargers can reduce e-waste and facilitate consumers. The disadvantage is that the high implementation cost may hinder companies from developing new and better charger standards. .
