CMkids Land Art Seen by Two Eyes

Yesterday afternoon, I took my son, Jo, to an art event, and I still have a lingering voice and a lot of aftertastes, so I changed my lazy habit and wrote it down.

CM Kids Land Art CM Kids Land Art

This activity is called: CM Kids Social Space Exploration Series – Entering Century Park Activity – Land Art Session 1

It was planned and initiated by two young artists, Wang Ziyue and Wang Yixuan. It claims to bring children the most artistic summer, in the natural forest, doing an art class for older children.

Little Jo and I were also honored to be invited to participate in this event.

But Xiao Jo invited his classmates to meet at the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum and had a great time. When I went to call him, he was obviously unwilling to leave. Finally, under my coercion and enticement, I reluctantly said goodbye to my good friends, and reluctantly came to Century Park with me.

The meeting place for the event is at Gate 3 of Century Park, but our place is at Gate 7, which is 1.5 kilometers away. The park is huge and the heat waves are rolling in. The father is in front and the son is in the back. One is panting and the other is puffing.

The park is very empty, with few tourists, only workers watering the flowers and plants. On a large lawn, a man and a woman were throwing Frisbees.

We came to a stall selling toys, and my son picked up a water gun, and then burst into laughter.

This event is very important for both of us, father and son. On the surface, if he does not participate, he will lose an opportunity to receive artistic edification and waste a precious event quota. From a deep psychological point of view, I am afraid that he will focus on reasoning and less on literature since he was a child, and become a scientific fundamentalist who believes in the futility of art.

Artificial intelligence and big data seem to be very powerful, but they are not as important as people’s hearts. The further development of information technology, the leakage of 1 billion 800 million data will have a catastrophic impact on society, far exceeding the destructive power of literary and artistic youth.

After having the water gun, my son was suddenly happy.

When I saw the time was right, I struck while the iron was hot and told him a Norse mythology story.

Thor is the god of Thor in charge of agriculture. One day he descended into the world, and was accidentally caught by a strong man named Sven, with an iron lock on his head. Sol was in unbearable pain, so he discussed with Sven, “Let go of me, I can fulfill a request for you.” Sven said, “Then tell me, what is the secret of life?” Sol said, the secret of life, I I can’t tell you, unless you promise me a condition to cut out one of your eyeballs.

Sven refused to accept it and continued to tighten the iron lock. Sol resisted the pain and persuaded Sven, “Many people would rather goug out both of their eyeballs in exchange for the secrets of life, but I didn’t agree. Now I only need one of your eyes, which is a very favorable condition.”

Sven wanted to know the answer so much, he finally loosened the chain, gritted his teeth, stomped his foot, dug out one of his eyes, and handed it to Sol. “Can you tell me the secrets of life now?”

Thor loosened his muscles, rubbed his aching head, and said, “Okay, now I’ll tell you, listen carefully, remember, the secret of life is that two eyes see better than one!”

Just as he was talking, door number three arrived.

At this time, Wang Ziyue and some parents and students were already waiting there smiling. After a while, I saw Wang Yixuan carrying a roll of colored paper and leading a large army in. Wang Yixuan is also an artist. Seven or eight years ago, our whole family went to see her graduation design exhibition. At that time, she used a lot of mobile phones to make a surrounding screen wall, implying the arrival of the touch screen era. Before the exhibition was over, a mobile phone was stolen. Maybe it’s part of art too.

Century Park is worthy of being a park that is often praised in English textbooks of primary schools in Shanghai. The atmosphere is relaxed and there is an area for children to play. The grass is delicious, the trees are colorful, the windmill slides are all available, and there is a company platoon leader where parents can rest. chair.

The 13 children who came that day stood in a circle with the teachers and began to perform physical drama warm-up exercises.

Little Jo quickly became acquainted with a child named Tian Tian next to him. They were able to turn every dramatic movement of his body into an exaggerated performance by a boy.

Some children who were timid at first also gradually became “hot” and followed suit with skillful movements. That’s the magic of drama.

After the warm-up, the graphic sculpture class began.

According to the introduction of Wang Ziyue’s copywriting, this activity is to paint and run with friends in nature~ Bring the paper figure of artist Jean Jullien to the park to find new friends.

Let the children use the most familiar graffiti method to conceive the content and cut out the works. At the same time, the children also need to be their own curators and find suitable scenes to display their creations.

On the trees, on the grass, on the benches, experiment after curation and installation of graphic sculptures. Get outside, observe the world, and create surprises with a kids version of land art.

I watched for a long time and vaguely understood. This thing is actually paper-cutting, but it is called paper-cutting and it is too earthy. If you change the name, the flat sculpture will immediately become taller, and it will break away from the earthy atmosphere of the original orchid flower.

Little Jo "Veteran" Little Jo “Veteran”

Xiao Jo’s graphic sculpture is called “Veteran”. He cut a soldier, holding a water gun bought in the park in his arms. This is just a very ordinary paper-cut, but when it is placed in the natural environment, it is immediately full of vitality. In the afterglow of the setting sun, a veteran, wearily holding a gun, leaned against a big tree. Is he missing his loved ones far away, will he be hit by missiles tomorrow? Will he be able to go home safely to the park with his children? Only to ask about the sunset and the first quarter moon in the sky.

One of my friends who studied arts and sciences who used to work at Microsoft said after seeing the photos I posted:

It looks good, but gradually fades away.

This is already a high rating.

Rongrong "The Reader" Rongrong “The Reader”

Of course, there are also surprises in the works of other children. For example, the flat sculpture of the furry child shows the naive attitude of the scholar vividly. What’s even better is that this scholar is still wearing a tie, which is really a good seedling of old Kehler.

After the display of the works, everyone came to the big lawn. The children rolled freely, and the birds returned to their nests. Nature showed its kind and gentle side, and so did the park rangers.

Little Jo and his new friend chased and slapped each other with water guns and didn’t care if their clothes got wet.

On the subway home, little Jo said:

“I see, we should see the world with two eyes.”

“Which eyes are they?”

I asked heuristically, expecting him to say, “One eye is called science, and one eye is called art.”

However, he replied: “One for his own eyes and one for his friends’ eyes. “

To be honest, it’s much better than my knowledge. Isn’t the series of activities of CMkids just to let children “make friends and read strange books”? “
