ESA ends cooperation with Russia on Mars mission ExoMars

ESA officially ends cooperation with Russia on Mars mission ExoMars. The ExoMars rover, named after Rosalind Franklin, was scheduled to launch in July 2020 and land on the surface of Mars in March 2021 to search for signs of life on Mars. But it was pushed back to August 2022 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and technical issues — the next time Earth and Mars align in orbit. The ExoMars mission was previously suspended due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine ESA officially announced the termination of the cooperation this week. For ESA’s approach, Roscosmos director Dmitry Rogozin ordered Russian astronauts on the International Space Station to stop using the “European Robotic Arm (ERA)” in anger.
