There are three basic steps to installing a system: burning a system image, partitioning, and installing. If you want to install other systems, you can also refer to the steps in this article.
Download system image
Search for “windows 10 download” on Google or Bing, you can find Microsoft’s official download address and select the appropriate version. If you don’t know what to choose, download “Windows 10 (multi-edition ISO)”.
You can also download the system at https://msdn.itellyou.cn/ , but this is not the official website.
burn image
Burn the downloaded system image to a USB flash drive to install the system. You can use a traditional burning tool like balenaEtcher . I prefer Ventoy , which can boot any system image on the USB after it is installed on the USB stick. This eliminates the need to burn and upgrade the Ventoy without formatting the USB drive.
BIOS/UEFI settings
Press the specific key 1 (such as F2) to enter the BIOS/UEFI when booting, and change the boot mode to UEFI. The current system seems to use this boot mode, and I don’t know if it will work with BIOS. Then enable USB boot again.
Hard disk partition
Partition tools can use DiskGenius or GParted. Third-party Windows PE generally have DiskGenius, such as: Youqitong , Micro PE Toolbox . Some unscrupulous Win PEs have viruses and adware, so choose Win PEs with good reputation and no problems, such as the two I just mentioned. It’s so troublesome to choose Win PE, let’s hurry up and use the Linux distribution image ! Common desktop Linux distribution images have partitioning tools, eg Ubuntu. Manual partitioning is not a necessary step, there are simple partitioning tools in the Windows 10 installation image.
install the system
Press a specific key (such as F12) to enter the boot menu when booting, and select U disk to boot. Then follow the instructions and click the mouse to install. If you don’t know which version to choose, use the home version, which is pre-installed on most computers. If you change the version later, you don’t need to reinstall, just use the corresponding activation code.

- Genuine method: Microsoft official mall (it seems to only sell Windows 11 now)
- Piracy method: The activation code sold by Taobao is about ten yuan.
Both of the above activation methods are safe. Never use activation software, beware of viruses.
