Robin Li put the words down directly – Jidu’s first car will lead the Tesla generation.
He appeared calm and calm, as if he was winning.
In addition, Jidu CEO Xia Yiping also threatened to deliver 800,000 smart cars in 2028, not a dream.
This is the core information exposed at the latest Jidu Ecological Partner Conference.
Is the concentration leading the Tesla generation?
The concentration is ahead of the Tesla generation. How can I say this?
From Robin Li’s live speech: “In terms of autonomous driving technology, Jidu will lead the Tesla generation.”
In addition, Robin Li also expressed his understanding of smart cars:
For smart cars, our judgment is that electrification is the midfield, and intelligence is the end game. The key advantage of Jidu Auto is “intelligence”. It integrates Baidu’s AI capabilities, fully inherits Baidu Apollo’s core capabilities, and re-integrates and validates them.
So the question is, how does Jidu’s existing product ROBO-01 perform in autonomous driving?
We have also introduced before that the underlying computing hardware uses two NVIDIA Orin X chips, with a comprehensive computing power of 508TOPS, and the entire vehicle is equipped with 31 off-vehicle sensors, including:
-
2 lift-type 128-line lidars from Hesai;
-
5 millimeter wave radars;
-
12 ultrasonic radars;
-
12 high-definition cameras, including seven 8-megapixel cameras, four 3-megapixel cameras and one 2-megapixel camera.
The core intelligent driving algorithm software relies on Baidu Apollo. In terms of functions, it can realize point-to-point intelligent driving including high-speed, urban open roads and parking scenarios.
The guests at the scene also frequently emphasized the importance of the ability of “autonomous driving”.
Robin Li directly asserted: “By 2030, electric vehicles without self-driving capabilities will be completely uncompetitive.”
Jidu CEO Xia Yiping also spoiled: “The first smart car to be delivered next year will have the industry’s best experience in ‘door-to-door, start-stop’ high-level autonomous driving capabilities.”
As for another highlight of this conference, the just-completed Shanghai Jiading headquarters will be used for the design, development and sales of Jidu smart cars.
The former Beijing headquarters mainly focused on the application development of intelligent driving, intelligent cockpit and intelligent networked systems.
Jidu CEO Xia Yiping: 800,000 units can be delivered in 2028
In terms of autonomous driving, I don’t know whether it can lead Tesla in the future, but from the perspective of new car delivery goals, Jidu has taken a relatively stable step.
The mass production delivery plan of Jidu’s new car is as follows:
- The first product ROBO-01, the limited edition of the mass-produced model will be released soon, and the reservation will be opened at the same time, and it will be officially delivered in the second half of next year;
-
The second car will be unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show at the end of this year, with deliveries expected to begin in 2024.
In addition, in terms of new car sales and service, they will open a brand experience center in Shanghai within the year, and will open Jidu stores in 46 cities in China next year.
Xia Yiping also announced a “2880 plan”, that is, in 2028, Jidu will have the ability to deliver 800,000 smart cars throughout the year.
In this way, by 2028, Jidu will deliver more than 60,000 vehicles per month.
Based on Tesla’s actual delivery, Tesla will deliver a total of 936,000 new cars in 2021. This goal was achieved five years ago – in 2016, Tesla delivered 76,000 new cars.
However, if there is such a delivery capability after 5 years, it means that there will be corresponding preparations after the first car is launched on the market, and this preparation, combined with production capacity adjustment and climbing, will basically achieve an average monthly delivery level of 10,000 vehicles.
What is the monthly average of 10,000 vehicles? The current head level of the new car-making forces.
