Until May 22, you can visit the exhibition titled “RAW” at the Rembrandt House in Amsterdam. In this group show, ten of Rembrandt’s etchings constitute an introduction to the work of 13 contemporary artists who present realistic views of the human body. Yesterday we showed Rembrandt’s prints; it’s time for something contemporary! ?

For a variety of reasons, all of the men in this series of photographs by Milan Gies are unable to adapt to our achievement-oriented society. They become homeless and in some cases addicted or sick. Keith photographed these largely invisible people in our society. The artist is particularly fascinated by “narratives”. He cares about the signs of traumatic experiences, pain and mental problems. The key question is: “Can you identify inner struggle and physical pain from a look in the eyes or the way a person moves?”

PS: The Rembrandt House is known for socially relevant and engaging exhibitions, including a beautiful performance that showcases the decolonizing gaze of Rembrandt’s contemporaries on black nannies!
