The White House on Tuesday released guidelines aimed at protecting personal data from misuse by artificial intelligence algorithms. It is not binding and does not include enforcement measures. The guidelines identify “five principles that should guide the design, use, and deployment of automated systems to protect the American public in the age of artificial intelligence.” The five principles are: protect people from unsafe or ineffective automated systems; prevent discrimination through algorithms; protect people from data misuse and empower them to decide how their data is used; inform An automated system is being used; giving the user the option to opt out of the automated system.
