The Yangtze River Basin has experienced a record drought this year, and artificial rainfall has also been used frequently. According to the People’s Daily , at least 10 provinces in China dispatched planes about 90 times in August to spread rain-friendly materials. About 120,000 “rain booster bombs” to promote rainfall were also fired. It is said that after Chongqing launched four rockets on August 25, it rained and the temperature dropped. In order to resist drought and other disasters, China will promote a large-scale plan to artificially rain and snowfall on 5.5 million square kilometers of land covering about 60% of the country’s territory by 2025. Systems are also being developed using the latest technologies such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to “control the weather” as a nation.
