Pinwan, October 12, according to Jiemian News citing Bloomberg News, General Motors plans to start offering its own solar power generation and energy storage systems later next year to compete with Tesla’s solar and Powerwall businesses.
In a statement, the company announced that a new business unit called General Energy is partnering with SunPower to provide solar panels and home energy storage services to residential and commercial users, similar to Tesla’s energy business.
According to Tesla’s official website, the Powerwall is a battery that can store energy and power homes in the event of a power outage. Paired with solar energy, it can power home appliances for days on end.
