Firefox OS resurrected

Mozilla abandoned its open-source mobile operating system, Firefox OS, in 2016, followed by the emergence of KaiOS, a commercial operating system primarily aimed at the feature phone market, based on Firefox OS. But it’s disappointing that KaiOS is both closed and tracked and has ads. Its fork, GerdaOS, promises to bring openness to KaiOS devices. Now, Project Capyloon has decided to resurrect Firefox OS, bringing it to modern Linux smartphones like the PinePhone Pro, Purism Librem 5, and Pixel 3A. The project is still in its early stages, and the project homepage is not clear enough. Its front-end Nutria can run old Firefox OS apps and possibly test the Firefox OS UI on the Android kernel by launching Google GSI (Generic System Image) on Android devices.
