Pinwan, October 12, Airbus announced today through its official WeChat account that it has delivered an A320neo aircraft to China Eastern Airlines at its delivery center in Tianjin. The delivery flights will use 5% sustainable aviation fuel.
Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF for short) is a sustainable alternative fuel produced from waste animal and vegetable oils and fats, oilseeds, municipal solid waste and agricultural and forestry wastes. Compared to conventional fossil fuels, SAF fuels can reduce carbon emissions by up to 85% from raw material collection to end-user use. This A320neo aircraft will be the first SAF delivery flight of a single-aisle aircraft assembled by Airbus in China. In the future, all customers receiving aircraft at Airbus Tianjin will have the option to use a certain percentage of SAF fuel on delivery flights.
