On October 13th, Meta released a new virtual reality (VR) headset Meta Quest Pro on Tuesday, local time in the United States, priced at $1,500 (about 10,710 yuan).

Quest Pro uses the XR2+ Gen 1 chip jointly developed by Meta and Qualcomm, which brings better cooling performance and significant performance improvement. Meta claims that the XR2+ Gen 1 has 50 percent better performance than the XR2 on the Quest 2.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the pricing of the new headset is just a “breakdown” to allow more people to experience the Metaverse by buying the hardware. He also said software and services are the areas where he really wants to make money.

Zuckerberg, meanwhile, quipped rival Apple that, typically, people make hardware and then want to profit from it. Apple, for example, makes hardware and charges as much as possible.

In addition, Apple has yet to release a VR headset and has never said it is working on a similar device, but analysts say the company is preparing to release a VR device that can stream video from an external camera to an internal high-definition screen in real-time , similar to the main features of the Quest Pro.
