Scientists at Trinity College Dublin believe our brains use quantum computing , according to a study published in the Journal of Physics Communications. The researchers used an experiment designed to demonstrate quantum gravity: a known quantum system interacts with an unknown system, and if the known system is entangled, the unknown system must also be a quantum system. It circumvents the challenges of finding measurement equipment for unknown systems. In the experiments, the researchers used proton spins in the brain fluid, which naturally accumulates in the human brain, as a known system. Proton spins can be measured with MRI equipment, and they go looking for entangled proton spins, and they believe they have observed entangled spins, thus proving that the brain processes at work with them are also quantum systems.
