RIAA sees AI as emerging copyright threat

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) submitted its latest list of notorious markets (PDF) to the Office of the US Trade Representative, which includes torrent sites, online drives and pirated streaming services. Additionally, the RIAA sees AI as an emerging copyright threat . The RIAA says there are online services that use AI to create new compositions that are similar or nearly identical to a reference artist’s composition. One service mentioned by the RIAA is Songmastr , whose underlying technology is open source Matchering 2.0, and the code is published on GitHub. The site promises to create (or master) similar styles of music based on well-known musicians such as Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and Bob Dylan.
