The largest PC digital game platform Steam has exceeded 30 million concurrent users, setting a new record. Valve’s Steam platform was born in 2003. As of 2015, its registered users reached 125 million, and the peak number of online players exceeded 10 million. In 2017, the online peak exceeded 17 million, and in March 2020, it exceeded 20 million. A year and a half later, on October 24, it exceeded 30 million, and the number of online players increased by 50%. The number of people online at the same time does not mean that all logged-in users are playing games. In fact, games are only part of the Steam service, and its social functions such as game reviews and forums have huge stickiness to users. Data from SteamDB shows that 8.5 million players were playing at the peak.
