CD Projekt and Polish game studio Fool’s Theory have announced that they are remastering the original Witcher game in Unreal Engine 5. Fool’s Theory was founded by former CD Projekt employees, whose titles include Seven: The Days Long Gone, and was largely responsible for developing the remake. The project is codenamed Canis Majoris. Fool’s Theory previously worked on Larian Studios’ development support for the Divinity series and Baldur’s Gate 3. CD Projekt joins studios like Capcom and Naughty Dog in retooling the business with remakes of popular old titles rather than rebooting the entire brand. The image upgrade of “The Witcher 3” is expected to be launched at the end of the year. This upgrade will be provided to “The Witcher 3” players for free. It is expected to support light pursuit, as well as DLSS/FSR and other frequency-boosting technologies.
