Google Hangouts is officially dead

Hangouts, one of the many messaging apps Google tried, officially died on November 1. Hangouts users will then be redirected to Google Chat, which replaces it, and users will still be able to download their own data using Google Takeout until January 1 next year. Google currently has two incompatible messaging products: Google Chat and Google Messages, as well as multiple messaging-enabled products such as Google Voice, Google Photos, and Google Pay. Hangouts was originally part of Google+ under the name Google+ Hangouts, and after Google+’s death Hangouts became half-dead, even though it was considered the search giant’s best and most complete messaging service.
