The Google Street View app for Android and iOS will cease operations early next year and will be removed from the app store in the coming weeks, according to 9to5Google. A Google spokesperson confirmed that the app will be retired from March 2023.

This is a dedicated Street View app on Android and iPhone that allows users to use Google’s services to get a 360-degree view around the world. It’s important to note that the feature won’t be removed from the standard Google Maps app .

The web version of the Google Street View app will remain, so users can still upload images and continue to browse Street View in Google Maps.

Shutdown notifications were first spotted in the latest version of the app called 2.0.0.484371618, which included various messages that weren’t yet enabled. When turned on, the messages said a shutdown was imminent, and Google later confirmed the changes.

When the Google Street View app shuts down, Street View photo paths will also be removed, a feature that was only introduced last year. This allows users to use their own 2D photos to provide imagery for places not already covered in Street View. The photos will then be concatenated to cover locations not captured by Google Camera. But existing photo trail photos can still be accessed through Google Maps.
