According to Reuters, Twitter officially launched a new subscription service on the 5th, charging $8 a month to provide users with a blue certification mark (“Blue V”), while launching an updated version in Apple’s App Store App Store. This is Musk’s first major revision to Twitter. It is reported that the new service is currently only available to users in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Musk said that once it is confirmed that the new service is working well and the relevant translation work is completed, it will be rolled out around the world.

In an update note for Apple’s iOS devices, Twitter reportedly said that “Sign Up Now” users can add the popular “Blue V Authentication” next to their username for $7.99 a month, “just like your The same celebrities, corporations and politicians are being tracked.”

According to the iOS update notice, other benefits of the subscription plan include halved advertising, the ability to upload longer videos, and rank tweets based on content quality.

Before Musk took over Twitter, “Blue V certification” meant Twitter confirmed that the real identity of the account was owned by an individual or a company. But with the launch of the new subscription service, it’s not clear how Twitter will verify users’ identities beyond charging.

It is reported that the new service is currently only available to users in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Musk tweeted on the 5th, “Once we confirm that the new service is working well in the first pilot countries, and the relevant translation work is completed, the service will be officially launched around the world.”
