Burst! Peruvian President Impeached, Arrested

On December 7, local time, after Peruvian President Pedro Castillo announced the temporary dissolution of Congress, the Peruvian Congress held an emergency meeting in plenary session, and passed the impeachment motion with 101 votes in favor, 6 votes against and 10 abstentions. On December 7, local time, the Peruvian Congress voted to pass a motion to impeach the president. The Congress issued a resolution saying that Castillo “unconstitutionally dissolved Congress and usurped public power” and was impeached and dismissed for “permanent moral deficiency”.
