Recently, some friends are addicted to stockpiling, but I am a little addicted to electric drills.
I actually bought my drill very early and had it on hand for a year or two. Then I would watch some videos of savage architect bloggers in Southeast Asia. They could build a four-bedroom and two-hall with a swimming pool in the wild with a shovel. It was inevitable that they would have some thoughts of “one day”. So at 3:30 a.m. on an impulse-shopping day, I bought a large set: a jigsaw, a pocket knife, a sharpening stone, a power drill.
After two house moves, the wire saws and knives in the big set of outdoor construction have long gone, and only the electric drill is still loyal to me. Aside from the fact that the price is a little too expensive to give up, the box is so big that I can’t pretend to forget it.
Unexpectedly, after the move this time, there is really a place for electric drills.
Here’s the thing: After moving house, I got a whole electric lift desk. After the table arrived, I flipped the table over according to the instructions, and was pleasantly surprised to find that there were no holes where the legs were installed. I habitually went online to see if I could make an appointment with an installer. When I saw the quotation, it was 300 yuan, because the epidemic was not sure if I could come.
After thinking about it horizontally and vertically, I decided to take a few holes with my own electric drill and try it out. It smells really good after trying it. Now most of the table and door panels are glued particle boards, which are drilled through the surface veneer, and the inside is as easy as cutting tofu with a knife. Once you get the hang of it, it’s actually not that difficult to drill the hole straight. The only troublesome thing is that if you drill too deep and drill through the board, the back is easy to warp and crack. But this is not too big of a problem, just fix a scrap board with a C-clamp and pad it at the back.
The more holes are drilled, the more confidence people have. I not only installed the lift table, but also installed a sofa, a sideboard, and bought a mirror and drilled holes on the sideboard. Before at IKEA, the most fearful thing was that the furniture you bought had to be drilled and screwed by yourself. Ever since I learned to use an electric drill and bought a Kalec cabinet that doesn’t require drilling, I felt a little lost, so I made another trip and bought two sets of drawers that needed to be drilled by myself.
Before you know it, the tools have been stuffed into a cabinet
My original intention of buying an electric drill was to find a reason to be addicted to handyman in the name of saving money, but it is not a loss. At least the few items I have installed now, Taobao labor costs are almost the same as the price of electric drills. After that, I will install furniture by hand, and I will earn one after installing one. Encouraged by the power drill, I also bought crystal head scissors, connected a few network cables, and sawed a shelf out of pine boards. Although the work is not as beautiful as a serious worker, but now if I want to find a woodworker who is willing to do 40 pieces of work and materials to make a solid wood shelf, I am afraid that I have to invent a time machine and go back to 1996.
Whether you live well or not, let’s talk about your posture
Doing a lot of work will inevitably lead to dissatisfaction with the tools at hand. My set of electric drills is Bosch’s popular GSR 120. The mainstream statement of the evaluation is that this electric screwdriver has better functions and is suitable for home use. There are two batteries in the set, so that one can be used to charge the other during operation, and the back and forth relay can meet the high-intensity use of the day. Of course, now a battery has died because it has never been charged, and I can only aggrieve the remaining one to talk less about treatment and more dedication.
The function of the electric screwdriver is better. In other words, the function of the electric drill is not very good. The electric drill using a 12V battery originally has a lower torque. This version also lacks an impact drill mode, which is more than enough to make holes in the wood, but it is still a little powerless when facing walls or tiles. Although I have not encountered a situation where this electric drill is not enough, but what if?
So with the thought of “one day”, I bought another electric hammer. Let me explain, this is a serious decoration tool, and reinforced concrete can be interrupted. It’s not clear what you can do with it, but I’m sure it won’t sit idle for as long as a power drill.
