Pinwan, December 19th, according to the “Wall Street Journal”, the U.S. auto safety regulator launched a safety investigation into the self-driving system used by General Motors’ self-driving car division.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ( NHTSA) said it has received three reports of crashes involving Cruise vehicles braking suddenly as another road user approached from behind. NHTSA has also learned through various sources of accidents involving Cruise vehicles that were not functioning properly, the agency said, saying it did not have an exact number of incidents. Cruise said it is working with NHTSA and its vehicles have completed nearly 700,000 miles of fully autonomous driving in what it describes as complex urban environments without life-threatening injuries.
