COVID-19 symptoms linked to physical activity

Researchers at Kaiser Medical in Southern California published a study in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine investigating the correlation between physical activity and symptoms of COVID-19. Researchers reviewed the medical center’s records of 194,191 adults infected with COVID-19 between January 1, 2020, and May 31, 2021, of whom 6.3% were hospitalized, 3.1% experienced exacerbations, and 2.8% died at 90. died within days. They found that people who were inactive before infection were 191 percent more likely to be hospitalized and 391 percent more likely to die than those who were active, showing that physical activity can help reduce severe symptoms of COVID-19. Those in charge of public health should address physical activity as a control strategy for outbreaks.
