Talent is the key force for technological innovation. On December 26, the reporter learned that the 2023 Tencent Rhino-Bird Elite Talent Program (hereinafter referred to as the Rhino-Bird Elite Program) has opened for applications, and the deadline for applications is 12:00 on February 1, 2023.
This year, the Rhino-Bird Elite Program continues to focus on artificial intelligence and other technical fields, including cutting-edge research topics such as machine learning, reinforcement learning, computer vision, and graphics and image technology. There are a total of 10 cutting-edge directions and 58 research topics. 
It is understood that the Rhino-Bird Elite Program was first released in 2017, aiming to select students who are passionate about scientific research and have potential to help them explore the road of scientific research. At the same time, the plan hopes to join hands with universities to cultivate a group of backbone forces who are brave in seeking truth and exploring and supporting independent innovation of science and technology. The selected students will be jointly trained by school-enterprise double tutors, using real industrial scenarios and massive data as a scientific experimental field, combining theoretical research with practice, verifying academic theories, and publishing high-level papers.
The 2023 Rhino-Bird Elite Program will continue to be open to undergraduates (juniors and above), masters and doctoral students from universities at home and abroad, including freshmen entering in 2023. Applicants must meet at least one of the following conditions:
(1) Publish papers in top journals or conferences (CCF-A, B or equivalent) as the first author (or the supervisor as the first author and yourself as the second author);
(2) Participate in large-scale scientific research projects at or above the provincial level in laboratories or mentors as the backbone;
(3) Receive national academic related awards, student competition awards, or student awards from academic organizations such as IEEE, ACM, Chinese Institute of Electronics, CCF, etc.
In the 7 years since the release of the Rhino-Bird Elite Program, the project team has continued to build online and offline learning and communication platforms for students on the basis of the joint training of two tutors. For example, through the “Very Elite Circle” online platform, students can obtain cutting-edge technology information at any time, accumulate scientific research gains and experiences, and also use the advanced platform of “Rhino-Bird Elite Research Camp” to talk to industry experts, practice workplace wisdom, and develop innovations thinking. At the same time, the project team also organizes “Intellectual Exchange Activities” to help students participate in top academic conferences and academic expert exchanges at home and abroad, communicate with IEEE Fellow overseas experts and ACM Turing Award winners, and discuss academic frontiers.
Up to now, the project has cultivated more than 360 scientific research elites from 190+ universities and research institutes at home and abroad. A number of scientific research achievements have been verified and transformed in real scenarios and data, and published in NeurIPS, CVPR, AAAI, etc. an international academic conference. In the future, Tencent will also further combine the platform advantages of both schools and enterprises, and continue to pay attention to and cultivate more elite talents dedicated to scientific research.
