Sina Technology News Beijing time on the evening of January 5th, according to reports, two people familiar with the matter said today that Google plans to file an appeal to the Supreme Court of India in the next few days, trying to overturn India’s “Competition Commission” (CCI). $160 million antitrust fine.

In October last year, India’s CCI announced a fine of 13.38 billion rupees (about 161.95 million U.S. dollars) on Google for its anti-competitive behavior related to Android mobile devices. In addition, the CCI requires that Google refrain from offering any incentives to smartphone makers to exclusively pre-install Google’s search service.

On Tuesday, Google filed a lawsuit with an Indian appeals court, saying that the fine decision made by India’s CCI largely copied the previous fine decision made by the European Commission and should therefore be revoked.

Google stated in the appeal document at the time: “There were more than 50 plagiarisms before and after, and in some cases verbatim plagiarism. Therefore, CCI India failed to conduct a fair, balanced and reasonable investigation. In fact, Google’s mobile App distribution practices It is pro-competitive, not unfair and exclusive.”

But yesterday, Google’s lawsuit was dismissed by the Indian Court of Appeal. The Court of Appeal of India said at the time that given the nature of the case, there was simply no need to issue any interim order to block CCI India’s fine decision.

Obviously, Google is not satisfied with the court’s ruling. People familiar with the matter said today that Google plans to appeal to the Supreme Court of India in the next few days. People familiar with the matter also said that Google believes that some CCI rulings cannot be implemented at all, and has no choice but to appeal to the Supreme Court.

Google has yet to comment on this.
