Boston Dynamics demonstrates the ability of a biped robot to grab and throw objects

Boston Dynamics has released a new video demonstrating the biped robot Atlas’ ability to grab and lay planks, grab and throw toolboxes on a hypothetical construction site. The public video, excluding footage of Atlas falling and making mistakes, is intended to demonstrate the expansion of Atlas’ capabilities. Boston Dynamics has previously demonstrated Atlas’ ability to parkour and dance, and now it can sense and manipulate objects in its environment. Atlas is still only a prototype, and the robots Boston Dynamics sells are mainly Stretch, a wheeled warehouse robot, and Spot, a quadruped robot used for tasks such as patrolling.
