CNET suspends publication of AI-generated articles. CNET has used AI tools to generate dozens of articles over the past few months, which went unnoticed until recently. Following criticism, editor-in-chief Connie Guglielmo told staff on Friday that the practice would be suspended. “We don’t do it in secret, we do it quietly,” he said. Other sites that use AI to write articles, such as Bankrate and CreditCards.com, have also suspended AI-generated articles. Lance Davis, vice president of content at CNET parent company Red Ventures, introduced the unnamed AI tool. Built by Red Ventures, it ingests data to generate stories, and editors can combine AI-generated text with their own. CNET executives did not disclose the data sets used for AI training and issues related to plagiarism.
