Austrian police revealed this week that a Dutch hacker, arrested in November, stole and sold the personal data of nearly all Austrians, including full names, genders, full addresses and dates of birth. The hacker sold the data on a hacking forum in May 2020, and the dataset has been confirmed authentic by investigators. It contains nearly 9 million sets of data, and Austria has a population of 9.1 million, so almost all Austrians are included. The hacker also sold similar datasets from countries including Italy, the Netherlands, and Colombia.
