Today, according to the website of the State Administration for Market Regulation, in 2022, the State Administration for Market Regulation will organize a national supervision and random inspection of the quality of electric bicycles and electric bicycle battery products, and the current situation of the random inspection has been officially announced.

It is understood that 295 batches of electric bicycles and electric bicycle battery products produced by 262 enterprises were randomly checked. Among them, 2 batches of products are suspected of counterfeiting and have been handed over to the market supervision department where the company is located. A total of 295 batches of products produced by 262 enterprises were inspected, and 62 batches of products were found to be unqualified, and the unqualified rate of spot checks was 21.0%.

It is understood that spot checks focus on 10 items such as speed limit, braking performance, vehicle quality, structure, speed prompt sound, and fire performance. Except for the braking performance item, all other items were unqualified.

As the power source of electric bicycles, the vast majority of electric vehicle batteries are lead-acid batteries or lithium-ion batteries. Spot checks focused on 19 items including 2hr capacity, high current discharge, energy density, low temperature capacity, fast charging capability, explosion-proof capability, short circuit, and overdischarge.

The unqualified items of lead-acid battery products involve low-temperature capacity, 2hr capacity, high-current discharge, and energy density. The unqualified items of lithium-ion battery products involve 2hr capacity, I2 (A) discharge, overcharge, short circuit protection, low temperature discharge, shell flame retardancy, and discharge overcurrent protection.

According to the analysis of technical institutions, the main reasons for the failure are: first, the actual capacity of the product does not reach the nominal rated capacity; second, the quality control of key production processes, key raw materials and key components is not strict.
