Sina Technology News Beijing time on the evening of February 1, according to reports, an internal memo shows that Tesla plans to increase the production of its Shanghai factory in the next two months to meet the demand caused by the sharp price cuts of its best-selling models.

According to the memo, at least in February and March of this year, Tesla plans to produce an average of nearly 20,000 vehicles per week at the Shanghai factory, which is close to the level in September last year. Last September, the Shanghai factory produced 82,088 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles.

As of January 29, Tesla’s average daily retail sales in China increased by 36% from a year earlier to 25,686 vehicles.

On an earnings call last week, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said orders roughly doubled in January following global price cuts. Musk also predicts that the delivery volume in 2023 may reach 2 million vehicles.
