Pinwan, May 17th, according to a report from the charging head network, recently Apple officially charges MFi plan members an annual fee. If the annual fee is not paid, the MFi plan membership will be terminated. Third-party accessory vendors need to be members of the MFi program to launch MFi-certified accessories.
All MFi-certified accessory manufacturers have recently received notices from Apple emailing “About the Collection of MFi Annual Fees”. The annual fee for the MFi plan is $99 per year.
MFi Plan membership is valid from the date of membership registration and is renewed annually. The annual fee for the MFi Plan is US$99 (approximately RMB 672.21) per member (plus any applicable taxes). Membership in the MFi Program will be terminated if the annual fee is not paid within the membership validity period. Apple will send email reminders that the annual fee is about to expire 30, 15, and 5 days before the annual fee expires.
Starting in April 2022, the MFi annual fee will officially start to be collected. Accessory brands remember to renew the $99 in advance to avoid the MFi membership being cancelled after expiration.
Apple has developed an MFi certification system. If third-party accessory brands want to launch Apple device accessories with stable compatibility, they must use Apple MFi certified components. For example, the current iPhone fast charging data cable needs to use the Apple C94 MFi certified terminal, and the iPhone MagSafe magnetic wireless fast charging needs to use the Apple MFM certified module.
