Good night,

Today is the annual International Museum Day , where tens of thousands of museums around the world celebrate in series. If you/you miss the opportunity to visit in person due to various factors such as work, schoolwork, and epidemic prevention, you may wish to refer to the ” Online Museum ” digital exhibition launched by the Ministry of Culture of Taiwan, or the interactive map compiled by the International Council of Museums (ICOM). Geographical restrictions, explore museums around the world (you can participate in a wealth of online activities!) Feel the museum’s “power to turn the world around us” ?

Study: Pollution kills 9 million a year ?

According to a new study published in Lancet Planetary Health, an authoritative British medical journal, various pollution on the earth kills 9 million people every year, accounting for 1 in 6 global deaths, while air pollution Pollution accounts for 75% of that.

The researchers calculate that 9 million are more than traffic fatalities, AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, drug and alcohol abuse combined, with deaths from toxic air and chemical pollution increasing by 66 percent since 2000. The report concludes that polluted air, water and soil “pose an existential threat to the health of people and the planet, jeopardizing the sustainability of modern society.”

Controversy over religious dress in France after female Muslim footballers fight to wear hijab – Alpine city of Grenoble votes to repeal ban on “burkini” for Muslim women, allowing them to be worn in public swimming pools The swimsuit, which covers the body and hair, has sparked a heated debate between supporters and opponents. The opponents argue that the move undermines French secular traditions, while the pros accuse the opposition of “Islamophobia”.

Grenoble mayor Éric Piolle said: “We just want men and women to be able to swim in what they want.” Most public swimming pools in France have strict dress codes. The norm to only wear tight swimming trunks has also been loosened, and women can also swim in the air.

I can’t be the only one who knows

The results of a study of more than 5,000 children in the United States may reassure parents who have headaches because their daughters love to play electric games.

According to the study, 9- to 10-year-old children who participated in the test spent an average of 2.5 hours a day watching TV or online videos, 1 hour playing video games, and using social media for half an hour; a follow-up two years later found that the average child played video games more than the average child. Older children had improved intellectual performance (the top 17% of children in electric hours had an IQ about 2.5 points higher than the average child), while using social media or watching videos did not have the same positive impact on intellectual development impact (but also no negative impact). This study controlled for variables that affect intelligence, such as genetics and social and economic background, and the results should have certain reference.

Quote of the Day

“And so long as men die, liberty will never perish.”

—Charlie Chaplin

The French Cannes Film Festival opened on the 17th. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky delivered a pre-recorded speech at the ceremony , citing lines from the British comedy master Chaplin’s 1940 satire of Hitler’s film “The Great Dictator”. Calling on filmmakers to “stand on the side of freedom” to emulate Chaplin’s spirit during World War II, “We need a new Chaplin to prove that the cinema of this era is not silent.”

In the shadow of the Ukrainian war, the Cannes Film Festival has banned Russian filmmakers with ties to the Moscow authorities, and will show Lithuanian documentary filmmaker Mantas Kvedaravicius, who stayed before Mariupol’s murder image below.
