Saw someone writing about the 20th anniversary of WordPress. On May 27, 2003, the first version of WordPress was released.
If a project can persist for 20 years, it will naturally accumulate huge value.
Recalling the time when I first started blogging, WordPress just came out, and those of us who used Movable Type (MT) didn’t like this tool written in PHP at all, it was like a toy, it was too ugly. Crude, poor performance, and inelegant architecture.
But open source.
After so many years, the original elegant MT (written based on Perl ) has not played the rough WordPress after all, and it really feels like the sea has changed. This site of mine has now also moved to WordPress. Although MT is still releasing new versions, after all, the users are only limited to a small group of people, and the maintainability is also poor. And WordPress is now mainstream. It is the CMS system with the highest market share at present.
This is true for projects, products, and people. 20 years ago, PHP programmers were not regarded as highly by the industry as they are today. However, if there is any programmer who can develop an open source product that focuses on content publishing from that time, if he can endure loneliness and persist for 20 years, he will also have great achievements.
Sadly, there are very few such people.
