Last Saturday we climbed Luniao Mountain with wn.
Luniao Mountain is located in Yuhang District, about an hour’s drive from downtown Hangzhou. This mountain is famous for its azaleas, which are most lively when the azaleas bloom in April and May every year. Now is the off-season. When we arrived at the Luoyaowu parking lot at 10 o’clock, there were probably less than 10 cars.
The photo above is a simplified route map. The entrance to Jiudong Mountain is said to be more challenging and rarely used by people. Most tourists take the Luoyaowu or Sixi entrance. They can go up and down at the same time, taking the circular route.
We went up Luoyaowu and down Sixi. Most of the mountain roads have stairs and the strength is suitable. We went up the mountain from the entrance at 10 o’clock in the morning, stopped and walked, and reached the top of the mountain at about 11 o’clock. There was a small shop and a cafe on the top of the mountain. After resting in the cafe for two hours, we went down the mountain. The descent was very fast. However, the entrance to Sixi is halfway up the mountain, and there are still five or six kilometers of winding mountain road after that, and there is no shuttle bus. We walked for a short distance, and finally, a kind tourist gave us a ride. Go to the foot of the mountain and take a taxi back to Luoyaowu parking lot, pick up your own car and go back to Hangzhou.
The winding mountain road down the mountain from Sixi is not bad. If you have a bicycle, you can consider sending the bicycle to the entrance of Sixi in the morning, and then return to the entrance of Luoyaowu to climb. When you go down the mountain in the afternoon, cycle from Sixi back to Luoyaowu. It feels good. You can try it next year during the azalea season.
