This year, Subiefest, Subaru’s official car gathering, came to Texas for the first time. In addition to exhibitions and vendors, there are also car shows and Autocross.

If you don’t know what Autocross is:

Autocross is a low-entry, low-intensity and safe motorsport designed to allow drivers to understand their own limits and the limits of their car. The venue is usually a track with cones arranged in open spaces such as abandoned airports and large parking lots. There is usually only one car on the track, competing against other players by time.

In short, it can be understood as “parking lot racing”. The threshold for participating in Autocross is very low. Generally, any vehicle that can be driven and meets the Tech inspection requirements can participate. A common exception is that SUVs and pickup trucks are prohibited from most Autocross events because a higher center of gravity creates a higher risk of rollover.

When I bought my ticket, there were no more spots available for Autocross. Just the Friday night before the event, I saw on the organizer’s Instagram that another Autocross spot had been released, and I was very lucky to grab one of the few spots.

However this meant that as a newbie with no real world experience, I only had one day on Saturday to complete the preparations.
