Xi Jinping pointed out that the friendship between China and Pacific island countries has a long history and spans mountains and seas. In recent years, the comprehensive strategic partnership of mutual respect and common development between China and the Pacific island countries has continued to move forward and achieved fruitful results, becoming a model of South-South cooperation, mutual benefit and win-win results.
Xi Jinping stressed that China has always adhered to the principle that all countries, big or small, are equal, and uphold the correct concept of justice and interests and the concept of sincerity, amity and sincerity to develop friendly relations with Pacific island countries. No matter how the international situation changes, China has always been a good friend of like-minded Pacific island countries, a good brother standing together through thick and thin, and a good partner moving forward side by side. In October 2021, the China-Pacific Island Foreign Ministers’ Meeting mechanism was formally established, which has built a new important platform for China and Pacific Island countries to strengthen dialogue, enhance mutual trust and promote cooperation.
Xi Jinping emphasized that maintaining peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region and promoting the development and prosperity of all countries are the common aspiration of the people in the region and the common responsibility of the countries in the region. China is willing to work with the Pacific island countries to strengthen the confidence to face challenges together, build a consensus for common development, gather together the synergy to create the future together, and join hands to build a closer community of shared future between China and the Pacific island countries.
