According to a study published in the journal Frontiers in Physiology, there are benefits to exercising no matter what time of day it is, but for best results, there may be differences in the time of day for men and women to exercise. Studies have found that women who exercise in the morning burn more body fat, while men do so in the evening. The study lasted 12 weeks and focused on healthy and active people between the ages of 25-55, including 30 men and 26 women. Over 12 weeks, the researchers monitored the volunteers’ performance on different fitness programs including stretching, sprinting, resistance and endurance training. One group of volunteers exercised for an hour before 8.30am, while the other group did the same exercise between 6pm and 8pm. All participants followed a specially designed meal plan. The researchers tested all volunteers’ blood pressure, body fat, and their flexibility, strength and aerobic capacity at the beginning and end of the experiment. The results showed that all participants improved their overall health and performance regardless of the time period they exercised.
