With the recent sharp drop in the stock market, the 10 richest people in the world have lost a cumulative $192.9 billion so far this year, an average of about $19.3 billion off their wealth.

The biggest loser among the top 10 is Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who has a net worth of $211 billion as of Friday and has lost $59.5 billion this year, but remains at the top of the rich list.
2. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, with a net worth of $146 billion, has lost $46.1 billion this year.
3. Bernard Arnault, chairman of LVMH, has a net worth of $137 billion and has lost $41 billion this year.
4. Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, who has a net worth of $123 billion, lost $14.9 billion this year.
5. Berkshire Hathaway Chairman Warren Buffett, who has a net worth of $113 billion, has added $3.7 billion to his wealth this year.
6. Google co-founder Larry Page, who has a net worth of $104 billion, has lost $24.5 billion this year.
7. Mukesh Ambani, chairman of India’s Reliance Group, has a net worth of $101 billion, up $11.3 billion this year.
8. Google co-founder Sergey Brin, who has a net worth of $99.6 billion, lost $23.9 billion this year.
9. Gautam Adani, founder of India’s Adani Group, has a net worth of $95.8 billion, an increase of $19.3 billion this year.
10. Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, who has a net worth of $95.4 billion, lost $10.3 billion this year.
The S&P 500 is down 14.1% so far this year. The market has been in a correction since Jan. 3, lasting longer than the historical average correction.
Year-to-date, Tesla shares are down 41.4% and Amazon shares are down 28.2%, crippling the fortunes of the world’s two richest men, who have lost a combined $105 billion.
In 2022, only three of the top 10 richest people will see their fortunes grow, including Buffett and two Indian billionaires, Ambani and Adani.
Only five of the world’s 25 richest people have grown so far this year, along with Buffett, Ambani and Adani, Mexico’s Carlos Slim (up $4.2 billion) and Dell Company founder Michael Dell (up $89.4 million) ranks 12th and 21st, respectively, on the rich list.
Outside of the top 10 richest people, Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Meta, has lost the most this year, with a loss of $55 billion, second only to Musk.
