Facebook’s parent company Meta on Monday named corporate vice president Guy Rosen as chief information security officer (CISO), the first for the social media company. the person holding the position.
Rosen has been with Facebook since 2013 and most recently led the company’s efforts on product security and integrity. He tweeted that in his new role he “will continue to oversee and provide an overview of the security and security risks facing users of our services, our company and the industry.” This is Facebook’s first CISO. Facebook changed its name to Meta in October 2021, but its social media app kept the “Facebook” name.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a memo that he had asked Rosen for the role, saying the move was “another step to elevate this security effort in our DNA and strengthen our Leadership and governance on security issues.”
In his expanded role, Rosen “will be accountable for platform abuse and the security of our products, infrastructure and company information, with a focus on internal and external risks,” Zuckerberg wrote. Alex Stamos, Facebook’s former chief security officer, left in 2018.
