Basic introduction
The student package is launched by Github and multiple platforms in the Internet industry. The core content is Github Pro free, some discounts on DO coupon codes and domain names, as well as some learning platforms (I haven’t used it before)
Details can be found here https://education.github.com/globalcampus/student
Each time the educational authority is verified, the student privilege can be renewed for 2 years, and it needs to be verified again or expired when it expires.
verification process
Start an application here https://education.github.com/discount_requests/student_application
At the same time, you can view your application date and results
To be eligible for student benefits, you must:
- Currently enrolled in a degree or diploma-granting program of study, such as a high school, secondary school, college, university, home school, or similar educational institution.
- Have a verifiable school-issued email address or upload documents that prove your current student status.
- Have a GitHub user account.
- At least 13 years old.
If there is a mailbox, the pass rate will be greatly improved, and many colleges and universities can automatically identify it from the mailbox.
1. What is the email address you use at school?
Note: Choosing a school-issued email address gives you the best chance for a quick review.
2. What is the name of your school?
Note: If your school is not listed, enter the full school name and continue. You will be asked to provide more information about your school on the next page.
And then 3, how are you going to use GitHub?
Just make up this one
Then in general, the certificate needs to be verified, of course, it may not be verified.
Document verification
In principle, the student ID card and student card are recommended, but the requirement is to have the “issue and registration date”
The basic information of the school and your basic information, of course, must also have
This is to support the student ID card issued in mainland China. If it is a student card, there may be no issue date.
Expiring student IDs do not affect verification.
Of course, other forms of proof can also be submitted (always emphasize the date), but the pass rate may drop significantly.
Notice
- Enrollment certificate does not certify enrollment
- IP should be similar to the school area (recommended a province, city, not transnational)
It is recommended to take photos with a mobile phone, and photo uploading is not supported. Then when the iPhone’s Chrome takes this photo, the preview image area is a black screen, but the image will be read in the background when switching between the front and rear cameras.
So you have to use the camera app to point at the clear proof, then go back to the browser, switch from the front camera to the rear camera, and then you can grab the photo
Then generally speaking, it is seconds passed or seconds rejected.
rejected solution
The IP was wrong before, so it was rejected, and 2 emails came respectively.
I tried re-shooting and changing the type to other, but they were all rejected, so I asked customer service
The customer service answer is
Upon reviewing your application it seems that you have applied from a location that is far from your campus.
If you are using a VPN, please disable it when you reapply. If you are not using a VPN, try reapplying when connected to the internet from a different network.
If you are a distance learning student, please attach official, dated proof indicating so when you reapply.
If your school is closed due to COVID-19, you are welcome to submit documentation stating that your school is closed. This will help our verification team.
