Waymo and Uber team up on autonomous trucks

Two former litigation adversaries and rivals of Waymo and Uber are teaming up on self-driving trucks. Waymo describes the partnership as a deep integration of the two companies’ products, deploying self-driving trucks to Uber’s Freight Network platform when they are ready for commercial use. Waymo will integrate Uber Freight’s freight service into its self-driving truck technology, learning more about how to receive and accept orders for deliveries as it tests the trucks. Waymo sued Uber in early 2017, accusing it of stealing trade secrets and infringing patents. The two sides reached a settlement a year later.
