I recently discovered a treasure blogger—Kyle Kowalski, who used to be a well-known marketing executive. Later, after experiencing an existential crisis, he resigned from a large company to start a business, and founded Sloww , a content platform that focuses on the common development of body, mind and wealth. .

After Kyle insisted on publishing more than 500 articles, he came up with 10 ideas to improve his life, which I briefly summarize here:

1. Cultivate the ability of lifelong learning and integrated thinking. Learning in adulthood is more important than learning in school. Only by integrating interdisciplinary knowledge can people stand out in the era of information explosion.

2. Live a simple and slow life.
Being busy means losing control of life. Only by calming down and slowly experiencing the current life can we be worthy of our life. Don’t let the hectic life of acting deprive you of the joy of life.

3. Designing a lifestyle Jacob Lund Fisk applied systems thinking to designing a lifestyle in his book “The Extreme of Early Retirement”. The core of it is to “make all the goals you want to achieve in life synergize and promote each other, and reduce and eliminate friction between each other.” For example, if you live within a 20-minute walk from work and a supermarket, you won’t delay your commute, and you can get exercise by walking every day.

4. Birth lottery We have no right to choose the time, place, nature and upbringing of our birth. After realizing this, we can have more compassion for ourselves and others. After all, everyone’s starting point and environment are different, and the relationship between people There is no comparison between.

5. Find your Ikigai
Ikigai is a traditional concept in Japan, representing the value of life, or happiness in life, and is a popular Japanese philosophy of national life. It encompasses a person’s meaning, value and purpose to life. The practice of ikigai takes into account factors such as one’s strengths, passions, values and goals in order to find a way of life that achieves personal, social and professional fulfillment.

6. Learn and apply mental models in practice. Most mental models sound simple and concise, but they are extremely difficult to apply. We need to constantly understand these theories and integrate and embody these concepts through continuous practice in our daily life.

7. Meta-Crisis Meta-Crisis refers to various crises faced by human beings at present, including environmental, political, social, cultural and psychological problems, which interact and form a deeper crisis . We can overcome obstacles through cognitive upgrading, emotional growth, and transformation into action.

At the same time, paying attention to one’s own emotional and behavioral patterns in daily life, trying new experiences, building meaningful relationships, learning and practicing sustainable development, etc., can help people gradually grow in the process of solving meta-crisis.

8. Realize whole brain life.
Whole-brain living refers to the ability to use both the left and right brain simultaneously to live and think in a more holistic manner. We can use visualization skills and creative thinking to stimulate the ability of the right brain, such as expressing our thoughts and emotions through drawing, crafts, music, etc. Use the analytical abilities of the left brain to formulate goals, plan, and solve problems, while also drawing on the intuition and imagination of the right brain to gain new perspectives and innovative ideas. We also need to focus on physical fitness and self-regulation to keep our bodies and minds in balance, such as through meditation, breathing exercises, and physical movement to reduce stress and anxiety.

9. The binary opposition between materialism and idealism.
Physicist David Bohm argues that thought is not merely the product of individuals, but a common system encompassing the consciousness of all. Therefore, our thinking and consciousness are not only influenced by individual experience and culture, but also by society and culture as a whole.

Matter and space are familiar entities and dimensions, while thought and consciousness are more abstract and elusive concepts. However, the interplay and connection between these concepts is crucial. For example, thought and consciousness can affect our understanding and use of matter and space. Matter and space can also affect our thoughts and consciousness, such as through the environment and sensory experience to affect our emotions and ways of thinking.

We should not limit ourselves to a world view of binary opposites. By understanding different perspectives and thinking, it helps us to understand the nature and function of thought and consciousness more deeply, so as to promote our creativity and problem-solving ability.

10. Free will.
Free will is a complex concept that can be defined as the ability and autonomy of an individual in making decisions. But whether free will really exists is a hotly debated question. Some philosophers believe that free will is an inherent human trait, while others believe that free will is an illusion and that our actions are determined by external factors.

Free will is not a simple issue. It involves many fields such as philosophy, science, and psychology, and it is also related to the behavior and moral responsibility of our individuals and society. These questions require us to continue to explore and think about it to better understand our own and others’ decision-making behaviors, as well as the motivations and meanings behind these behaviors.

The meaning of travel

The online tutor Derek Sivers published an article that made me feel the same way. Here is a brief translation:

I moved to New York City when I was 21.

An old friend of mine flew to New York for a long time to see me, and this was his first time in New York.

I asked him, “Would you like to see the Statue of Liberty? The Empire State Building? Central Park? A Broadway show?”

He said, “I don’t care where we go, I just came to see you!”

I said, “Haha, that’s sweet! But seriously, what do you want to do in New York for the next few days?”

He said, “Man, I’m serious. I don’t really care what I do in New York. I’m here to see you, play with you, talk to you. Honestly, that’s the only reason I’m here. You don’t have to take me anywhere or show me anything.”

It was one of the most moving moments of my life. Someone spends time and money to travel to the most prosperous city in the world, not to visit the sights, just to see me.

Many years later, when I was running a record label, I became wary of meeting people because I (wrongly) assumed that everyone wanted something from me. So I started traveling in secret. I visited many countries without telling anyone or meeting anyone. I wandered around, checking in on landmarks, food, museums, and other events, barely speaking to anyone unless necessary.

One day when I was in India for a month, I decided to break my rule because it was my last day before flying back to the US, and I figured that even if someone wanted something from me, I would be there in the second day escape. So I sent an email to a musician in my database who lived in Kolkata and asked if he had time to meet. He came to the hotel where I was staying, kindly accompanied me around Kolkata for most of the day, and shared with me a lot about his hometown, as well as his insights on culture and life. In addition, when we were walking on the road, many people kept asking him for his autograph. I realized later that his alter ego was that of the famous writer Amit Choudhury.

When I think back to that month in India, I remember almost nothing except the conversation with Amit. Landmarks, food, museums, and events are all blurred memories, but a fun conversation with someone else will stick in your mind forever.

Sometimes the reason why we have feelings for a city is often with the local people. It is people who connect us to a place. So I’ve learned from my past mistakes and now the main purpose of my travels is to meet people. When they offered to take me to landmarks, I said, “I don’t care where we go, I’m just here to see you!”

————— ฅ՞••՞ฅ —————–

I felt the same way after traveling more than half of the world. Traveling to a place now is no longer a simple visit to take pictures and check in. The main purpose is to make new friends or meet old friends. Last month, I visited Beijing and Tianjin, visited two old friends from New Zealand, then flew to Guangzhou, met the game group bosses, and now in Singapore, met the community members of The Network State. What touched me the most was the impromptu organization of the first CY Circle offline event in Guangzhou. Friends from the community came from Hainan, Shanghai, Wuxi, Chongqing, and Shenzhen to meet me. I will definitely contribute more in the future More good content, more good opportunities, let’s make money while playing together!

Finally, share some beautiful pictures in Singapore. Bathed in the sun every day, feeling the flow of money and energy, Singapore, a melting pot of Chinese and Western, is tailor-made for people like me. Being in it is like charging, and I can go back to Europe with full blood and continue to jump. up!

Meditation

After returning to China, I followed the Buddhist meditation theory course “Relaxation” led by Teacher Faxin for three sessions.

During my first session, I experienced some strange things. Sometimes in sleep, I feel someone beating my heart, and I even see black shadows like rabbits or cats flying past my eyes. Later, I asked the teacher for advice, and he told me that if there is no demon inside, one will not be infested by external demons. Everything in the world is interconnected, and the inner attitude towards ghosts and other things, whether it is joy or fear, can not be troubled. As long as we continue to practice compassion in our practice, we can understand that ghosts are no different from people. If we can look at everything around us with an equal mind, our fears and worries will gradually decrease.

Thinking back to when I first started TM, I had nightmares every night. My meditation teacher at the time told me that this was normal because through meditation, my awareness increased and many emotions that I had forgotten or hidden came to the surface. Freud once said that unexpressed emotions never disappear, they are just repressed and will emerge in uglier ways in the future. In my 20s, I often had unknowing meltdowns as I unconsciously repressed emotions, which eventually led to emotional outbursts. Through meditation and meditation, I have learned to face my deepest thoughts and emotions bravely. While the process is somewhat painful, it is temporary. Once we gain awareness and stop following the crowd, we become more aware of who we are and what we want. Once we solve the essential problem, other secondary problems caused by the ambiguity of the essential problem will be solved.

When I participated in the second course of “Relaxation”, it seemed that I had a sudden enlightenment, turned on the switch of my empathy ability, and then began to cry every day. I cry when I watch my cousin touch the dirty stray cat; I cry when I listen to my father talking about his unfulfilled ambition; When I think of anyone, I feel that Ta is not easy, crying…

At that time, I felt that the result of this practice was too unbearable. After all, washing my face with tears every day would seriously affect my normal life and work. Fortunately, everything will pass. After a period of practice and experience, I began to gradually understand and master the ability of empathy, and also learned how to maintain balance and sobriety without being disturbed by emotions. I realized that the expression of emotions does not necessarily mean the control of emotions. Only when we learn how to deal with and regulate emotions can we truly release the power of empathy, help others, and even help ourselves.

Now, I still feel a surge of emotion when I see someone or something that needs help, but I have learned how to process and express those emotions, and how to control my emotions to be more calm and focused. I have also gradually discovered that through empathy and attention to the needs of others, I become more meaningful and fulfilled, as well as happier and fulfilled. At the same time, empathy is one of the abilities that a writer must have. It can make the work more touching, more real, and closer to the reader’s life and emotion, thereby improving the literary value and reading experience of the work. The benefits of spiritual practice are indescribable.

A week of miscellaneous thoughts

1. In the past four months in China, I have not exercised or exercised, and my whole body is in a state of atrophy. Although I have a lot of time, I have not completed any of the projects and things I want to do. It is only now that I realize that time management is a false proposition. In the final analysis, it is energy management. Many friends asked me before, why do I have time to do so many things (work, writing, socializing, self-media are not delayed), it is because of the vitality brought by exercise and fitness, the first thing I do when I wake up every day is to go to the gym Soaking, I can feel the inexhaustible energy in my body pushing me to move all day long.

Life lies in sports, and my ancestors did not deceive me. I thought that exercising would make me tired, but not exercising makes me more “tired”! For a beautiful summer, it’s time to act again!

2. After being an anchor and then accepting interviews with others, it is easy to see who really wants to know your thoughts and life, and who just wants to catch the heat and make money for the show.

I didn’t like the speeches and questions that were read out against the manuscripts since I was a child. No matter how good the content is, I still feel that there are false elements in it. Because when you are really interested in a person, you don’t want to interrupt the smooth conversation, and when the other person answers this question, you have already started to search on paper in your mind, or conceive my next question in your mind What to ask.

The first job of a good anchor is to kill your ego first, the audience doesn’t care that you can read the question flawlessly, they want (at least what I want is) careful listening and honest conversation.

3. I dreamed that the hair-planted Robben (the young version of Peter Pan) put on the Dutch jersey again and coached the Dutch team to play the World Cup. I saw him at the scene and exclaimed incredulously. Robben smiled at me, and I laughed directly Awake.

Looking back now, the things you regret in your life are never those things you did, but those things you never did. For example, I watched my favorite players play on the spot. Ronaldinho didn’t have the financial strength at that time. During Robben’s time, he thought that the old man could play for a few more years, so there was no need to worry. As a result, time is not forgiving, he said Back off.

Some dreams will also expire. When I was in high school and college, I fantasized that I must go to Camp Nou with my beloved to witness Barcelona’s victory. That would probably be the happiest moment in my life! Later, after such a long time, it really came true, but the happiness gradually faded with the passage of time. When perception changes, everything changes with it.

Some things must be done right now, and experienced right now, and if you miss it, it will be a lifetime of regret.

4. In many fields, a group of people holding opinion A died and could not continue to stick to their own theories, and then the next generation of people holding opinions B, C, and D were able to replace them.

Therefore, the first condition to change the world and culture is to live longer than your opponents. If you kill batches of dissidents, the world will be yours.

No wonder the bigwigs have been seeking immortality since ancient times. In ancient times, they sought alchemy and medicine, and in modern times they specialize in biomedicine and upload consciousness. I feel that if I don’t die, I may witness the leap and upgrade of the human species.

5. People who can play are the cutest!

Many people think that “playing” is very simple, but if you really want to play every day, you may feel scared and bored after a while. It is because you fundamentally feel that playing is not doing your job properly, so you will feel anxious and feel sorry after playing for a while , quickly want to find something else to do.

It is estimated that adults have heard such words: “I am so old, I still play with dolls and games.” Chicken roll babies are not allowed to play since they were young, and they want to play independently when they grow up, or they have lost the ability to play Ability, or under the pressure of public opinion, it will pass without much play in a lifetime, it is scary to think about it.

Life is a game, if you can’t play it, you can only be an NPC, so it’s so boring. In the past 30 years, I played very well by myself. Recently, I met so many people who can’t play. I suddenly had the urge to play with others to practice numbers. Let’s start playing in Europe. Destined friends welcome Date to play!

Finally, recommend a song that has been frequently cycled recently:
