My mother had just received a phone call and asked me to quickly get dressed and go downstairs with her. She said that it was a distress call from the neighbor’s aunt next door. She said that her back pain was so unbearable that she broke into a cold sweat and was restless. She had informed her son in advance. She wouldn’t be able to come back for a while, and when the pain became unbearable, she called and asked us to take her to the hospital for a checkup and pain relief.
My aunt’s son works in Dongguan, and he took his children to settle in Dongguan a few years ago. There is no one to manage the building here, and my aunt is used to living here and is surrounded by fellow villagers so she doesn’t go with her. She only goes to Dongguan to stay for a while during holidays or weekends when she has nothing to do.
We rushed downstairs and saw our aunt squatting on the ground, not in a very good condition. I helped her slowly get into the car and asked her where she wanted to go. She said she wanted to go to the city center hospital, so I drove in the direction of that hospital. We briefly communicated with her and described the pain in the car. Based on the pain that my mother and I both experienced, we concluded that it was renal colic caused by kidney stones getting stuck in the ureter. In this case, the first thing to do is to relieve pain. I have been in the emergency room twice and I can memorize the steps of the hospital’s treatment. Pain-relieving injections, B-ultrasound and CT scans – the doctor recommended hospitalization for lithotripsy surgery.
It takes forty minutes to go to the central hospital, and the nearby hospital takes less than five minutes. After listening to our advice, the aunt decisively chose the nearby hospital to relieve pain first. While waiting for the traffic light, the aunt kept vomiting out the window, and the pain was excruciating. Anyone who has experienced kidney stones knows that the pain is unbearable…
When I drove to the entrance of the emergency room, as I expected, the doctor prescribed a painkiller injection and a B-ultrasound order. I paid for the medicine, took the injection, and then went to the second floor for the B-ultrasound. The results came out quickly and confirmed that there were kidney stones. I took the report back to the first floor and asked the doctor to recommend hospitalization for a CT scan to confirm the location of the stones and surgery. The aunt did not listen to the doctor’s advice and only prescribed a CT scan and anti-inflammatory and analgesic injections…
While waiting for the CT scan, the pain was probably relieved with the help of medicine. We were already chatting and laughing. We talked to her about the same experiences of mother and son. In the end, we had to take Chinese medicine to expel the stones. After taking the CT scan, while waiting for infusion in the hospital bed, his son rushed all the way from Dongguan to the emergency room.
I am very grateful for our help and keep saying thank you. Neighbors should help each other and should not be too external. By the way, my two kids usually play downstairs and often eat the food given by their aunt.

I handed the hospital receipt and the aunt’s ID card back to her son. After handing over the relevant matters, my mother and I went home first. His son also spoke kindly to her all the way.
