A new way to draw bastards

Before teaching children to play poker, start with drawing eighth. The kids love it.

This is a traditional game called Old Maid in the West.

The rule is very simple, that is, draw a king and an 8 (or any other card) from a deck of 54 playing cards. Cards are dealt equally to participating players. Each player discards all pairs of cards in his hand, leaving all single cards in his hand. Then, each player draws a card each round. If they can be paired with the existing cards in their hands, they can discard the paired cards, otherwise they must keep the drawn cards in their hands. The player who finishes his hand first wins, and at the end of the game, the last player must have kept a king and an eight in his hand, while all other players have played their hands.

This kind of gameplay is very simple and joyful, and children can learn it as soon as they learn it. But I found it unskillful to play, so I recently modified the rules to a very memory-dependent game.

The improved rules are as follows:

After the hand is dealt, the player puts a number of single cards in his hand on the table in front of him one by one, and each card cannot overlap with each other. Once placed, it cannot be viewed, nor can the position of the card be moved. It’s best to memorize each card by yourself.

When drawing the next card, you can freely choose a covered card from the opponent’s table, check it secretly (you can’t show it to other players, including the player who was drawn), and then you can choose: Carry it back and put it in front of you, join the already Some cards; or play it face up, and at the same time turn over a card in the deck in front of you. If the two cards are paired, you can throw two cards to the discard pile. The cards are turned over and covered. This process must be visible to all players.

In the process of playing cards, except that you can turn over a specific card after drawing a card, you cannot look at the cards in front of you, even if you remember that you still have a pair of cards, you cannot turn over the cards. Elimination of cards can only be done once after the next card is drawn.

We played three games with four of us at home last night. After all, Ke Ke is still young, her memory is not as good as her brother’s, and every game is crushed. But both Yundou and Coco said that the new rules are very interesting, more fun than the previous ones.
