Airbnb has announced a permanent global ban on all parties and events from listings on its home-rental platform. The company has allowed landlords to decide whether parties and events can be held on their properties in the past, but in late 2019 it banned parties with unlimited invitees in listed properties and so-called “party houses.” The ban came after a series of violent incidents at the party, when five people at the party were killed in a shooting. In a statement, Airbnb said: “We are concerned that unauthorized parties are not only intrusive, but also pose a risk of spreading the virus. Over time, the party ban is not just a public health measure. It developed into a fundamental community policy that supports our landlords and their neighbors.
